kids to know about his work. we're going to begin with the latest development in the disappearance of 10-month-old lisa irwin, from her crib in the middle of the night. we're going to talk to her parents in just a minute. but first, abc's dan harris has the very latest for us from kansas city, for us. good morning, dan. >> reporter: good morning, to you. the parents of baby irwin insist they're fully cooperating with police. they say they take issue with the way they're being treated by detectives. they say investigators have tried to turn them against one another. they have accused the mother of failing a polygraph test. in the three days since their 10-month-old baby, lisa, nicknamed pumpkin pie went missing. >> we were running around the house, screaming for her. >> reporter: her parents, jeremy irwin and deborah bradley, have consistently said she disappeared in the middle of the night. >> please, bring her home.
7:03 am
>> reporter: and they have also consistently cooperated with kansas city police. but late thursday, police announced that the parents had suddenly stopped cooperating. does that make you think, does that make the department think, they had something to do with lisa's disappearance? >> again, everything's on the table, as they've been saying for three days now. >> reporter: if they go from cooperating to not cooperating, i imagine that has to raise some obvious questions. >> it's a fair conclusion for you to draw. i can't say that matter of factually for the detectives. >> reporter: the sister of the baby's father held a news conference, refuting the statement from the police. >> we've been cooperating from day one. and we continue to assist police in the investigation. >> reporter: the family says the parents have repeatedly told the same story. that their baby vanished on the one night that the father has ever worked an overnight shift. and the one night that the mother has ever left the front door unlocked. while insisting they are still cooperating, a family source told "good morning america" they were displeased with how the

parents were treated on thursday, during a day-long questioning. now, the police insist they're still actively investigating this case. however, in the immediate aftermath of their announcement overnight that the parents are no longer cooperating, we saw some dramatic changes here. they shut down their mobile command post, which was located justice skus a short ways away from the irwin family home, which is behind me. and they also took down the police crime scene tape here. robin, back to you. >> dan, thank you. and joining us from kansas city are lisa's parents, jeremy irwin and deborah bradley. i know this is a very difficult morning again for you both. and appreciate you taking some time with us. you heard in dan harris' report that the police are claiming that you have stopped cooperating. is that true, debbie? >> no, not at all. since all this has happened, we've never stopped cooperating. >> jeremy, what would have led
7:05 am
police to believe that you stopped cooperating? what happened? >> we were in interrogation for a really long time tuesday. we were there again yesterday, answering questions. and i just -- i couldn't take it anymore. i told them i had to have a break. i told them i couldn't do it anymore. i couldn't answer anymore questions today. and i asked to be let go. so, they let us -- they let me go from the police station. and then, an hour later, when we saw the press conference from them. >> it's commonplace, unfortunately, with something like this, that the police look at the family first because you were the last to see your precious, little girl. and i know, debbie, you and jeremy have told our team there on the ground in kansas city, led by dan harris, debbie you have said that the police have

accused you outright? have told you that? >> from the start, they've -- when i first -- they first questioned me, it -- wednesday, it turned into, you did it. and they took the picture down from the table. and they said, look at your baby and do what's right for her. just tell everybody where she is so she can come home. and i kept saying, i don't know, i don't know, i don't know. 11 hours of it. and i just sat there. i mean, i didn't even ask -- i didn't even ask to leave. i didn't ask for it to stop. i wanted it to. but i didn't ask. i just let them keep asking questions until they were done. >> and you've also told our team that the police are claiming that you have failed a polygraph

test. is that true? >> yeah. yesterday, we went in. we called someone and told them, you know, we have more suspects. it seemed like they were going to talk to us in the car. and then, they separated us. we don't want anybody to feel like we were angry or were ungrateful. we appreciate everything that everybody has done t try to bring her home. and that's our main goal. i don't care what they've done to me. i don't care what they say about me. i don't care what anybody says about me. i just want her to come home. our focus is lisa. our lisa coming home, to be with us, where she belongs. and whatever i've got to do to bring her home, we'll do it.
7:08 am
>> so, both of you set the record straight because you know when people hear that the police are claiming all these things and say that you have stopped cooperating, that they become skeptical and suspicious. >> right. >> so, set the record straight right now and reassure people. did you have anything to do with the abduction of your daughter? >> absolutely not. >> no. >> we do -- we cannot stress enough this to the kansas city police department. this is their job. this is part of the process. and we appreciate everything that they've done. and all the volunteers and the search and rescue and everybody that's -- we've got strangers making up facebooks in her name. and the fbi has done everything. if we forgot anyone, we're

7:10 am
arrested after marching into a bank of america in los angeles. it all comes as the government releases the monthly jobs report this morning. and the news there is not expected to be good. abc's jake tapper is watching it all from washington and joins us now. jake? >> reporter: good morning, josh. that's right. the white house is bracing itself for another expected weak jobs report. economists predict about 60,000 jobs were created in the month of september. that's not nearly enough to keep up, even with the rate of population growth, let alone to make a dent in the nation's unemployment rate, which is about 9.1%. that would make five-straight months of little or no job growth. we're expecting the white house will say, it's yet another reason for the president's jobs bill to be passed as soon as possible. josh? >> all right, jake tapper. thanks for that. there are long faces in this studio and times square because of this. the tigers of detroit, eliminating the yankees from the postseason. the sky is falling over the

7:12 am
whether there's any benefit in saving lives. >> they say up to 30,000 men may have died because of these tests. as a doctor, you go along with this recommendation. >> here's the thing. most people by the time they die, actually have prostate cancer cells in their body. they're growing slowly. they're not causing any harm. this test can't tell the difference between those cells that are going to cause problems and those that are just there. and surgery has consequences. some of the risks, nearly half of the men who have prostate cancer surgery will have sexual dysfunction. many will have urinary incontinence. while they're not deadly, they have major impacts on people's lives. >> the risk of treatment could be far greater than the reward. and given all the confusion that's so certain to be out there right now, what should all these men do? >> the american cancer society has recommendations that i think are realistic. men at age 50 need to have a conversation with their doctor so they understand the benefits and the risks of screening and
7:13 am
future testing or surgery. if you have family risk factors, african-americans or a family relative who died from prostate cancer, earlier testing should be done. i looked at the evidence for myself. and when i saw my doctor at age 50, i decided not to be tested. but each person has to make that decision, weighing the benefits and risks. >> with the confusion we had over mammograms a couple of years ago, to wait until 50, not 40. we turn, now, to the investigation of the secretive billionaire brothers who are a huge financial force in the conservative movement here in the u.s. contributing over $100 million by some estimates. now, their company attracting some unwanted attention for questionable activity. abc's brian ross has been looking into this. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning, robin. the billionaire koch brothers, david and charles, are masters trying to keep secrets, for political and business dealings. now, the covers have been

partially pulled back on their oil company. but bloomberg markets call it's secret sins. other than a night out on new york's cultural scene, the koches rarely appear or speak in public. but on this occasion, a documentary filmmaker was rolling, as david koch appeared before tea party leaders and spoke of american values. >> the american dream of free interprides, capitalism, is alive and well. >> reporter: now, questions are being raised about the american values of the source of the koch's wealth, koch industries, a $100 billion a year oil and energy company, based in wichita, kansas. this industry of bloomberg markets says one koch subsidiary was trading with iran. and another in france was paying bribes to get business in six different countries. koch industries admits the statements are violations of criminal law.
7:15 am
>> a document right there in the court record, out of the lips of koch industries. >> abc news. how do you respond to allegat n allegations? >> reporter: david koch declined to speak to abc news when we caught up with him in new york city. the company says it fired the people responsible for the bribes. but as a private company, it was able to keep all of that secret until this week's article. >> there's enough of these payments that i think any prosecutor would want to look further. >> reporter: as for the trading with iran, it involved key components for a state-owned petrol chemical plant, despite a u.s. ban on trade with iran since 1995. one order was placed the day after president bush told congress iran continued to be a threat to the u.s. >> weapons of mass destruction supports terror. >> reporter: koch industries says the trade with iran was legal because it was done through a foreign subsidiary and
7:16 am
no americans were involved. >> you're still dealing with a state that is considered by the u.s. state department to be a sponsor of terrorism. >> reporter: koch industries says it voluntarily stopped trading with iran in 2006. but the new revelations that it went on, even through a subsidiary, and other international companies also traded with iran. but the fact it took place with this company is not going to sit well with conservative friends in congress and the tea party. >> have a good weekend. we're going to turn, now, to an intimate look at the final days of steve jobs. when he stopped down from apple in august, he knew it was time to say good-bye to friends and family. and abc's neal karlinsky had a chance to speak to some of those closest to jobs in those last weeks. >> reporter: steve jobs' sister, mona simpson says, in his final weeks, jobs biggest concerns were for those who depended on him. his tone was tenderly apologetic, he said. at the end, he flt he had to leave us. his friend and doctor, dean
7:17 am
ornish, said jobs sent what little time he had saying good-bye. >> it was special to have lunch and just talk about things. >> reporter: jobs shared a story about an anniversary present he gave to his wife, laurene. >> he made her a handmade box. wrote a hand-written note, love note. talked about how we had good times. we had hard times. but we never had bad times. and the love between them was so palpable and so beautiful. >> reporter: the most surprising revelation since his death are about steve jobs the man, the father of four. >> i asked him, what was it like to be a parent? and he said, dean, it's 10,000-times cooler than anything i've ever done. i said you've done a lot of interesting things. that says a lot. and he said, that's probably an underestimation. when you have a child, your heart is prefer outside your body. >> reporter: and in the new "time" magazine cover story, walter isaacson revealed more insights from jobs himself.
7:18 am
revealing exclusive conversations for his book. isaacson last saw jobs at home, before his death. he moved to a downstairs bedroom because he was too weak to climb up and down stairs. he was curled up under a blanket, clearly in pain. but his mind, still sharp. the author asked him one more question. why after a lifetime of privacy, was he so eager to open up for 50 interviews and a book? i wanted my kids to know me. i wasn't always there for them and i wanted them to know why and understand what i did. it's just so powerful. on a different note, recall those black neck turtlenecks that steve jobs always wore. the company that makes them, st. croix, says since his death, they've been flying off the selves. a 100% sales increase, despite a hefty price tag at $175 a shirt. >> that is interesting. thanks. that biography is going to fly off the shelves. and walter isaacson will be here
